Dual Enrollment Program

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is giving high school seniors an early start on their college education. Students who have completed their junior year have the opportunity to earn college credit through the High School Dual Enrollment Program. The program is open to the first 100 eligible students per semester to be admitted to the program.

To participate in the program students must meet all eligibility requirements, as well as complete all admissions paperwork. For early consideration please submit completed admissions packets to University College no later than July 31 for Fall 2009 and December 4 for Spring 2010.

What are the benefits of the High School Dual Enrollment Program?
  • Provides an excellent bridge for graduating seniors as they prepare to leave high school and enter college
  • Offers personalized instruction with traditional UL Lafayette courses, faculty and students
  • Provides an opportunity for high school seniors to earn college credit before graduating from high school
  • Automatically generates an application for admission to UL Lafayette for the Fall 2010 semester.*
    *Students will not need to re-apply for the Fall 2010 semester; however, an automatic application does not guarantee admission to UL Lafayette.
Who qualifies?

Students enrolling in the High School Dual Enrollment Program must meet admissions requirements as follows:
  • Completion of the Louisiana Board of Regents' high school core curriculum (upon graduation)
  • AND Mathematics ACT score of at least 19 and an English ACT score of at least 18 and a composite ACT score of at least 21
  • AND High School GPA of 2.75 or higher using an unweighted 4.0 scale.
What courses can I take?
  • Students schedule courses along with traditional college students. Enrollment is based upon open seats and is scheduled at a mandatory orientation meeting.
  • Students can register for up to 7 credit hours. All students must schedule a 1 hour orientation course.
  • All students need to meet all co-requisite and pre-requisite requirements.
  • Limitations to courses are as follows:
    • Students cannot take Freshman English (English 101) until the second half of their Senior year (Spring 2010).
    • In order to take Freshman English (English 101), students must have scored 18 on the English portion of the ACT.
    • In order to take College Algebra (Math 105), students must have scored 21* on the Math portion of the ACT.
      *Score requirements subject to change.

What is the cost?

Students enrolling in the High School Dual Enrollment Program have the following tuition policy:
  • $30.00 per credit hour up to 7 credit hours.
  • Tuition is due no later than the first day of classes!
  • Tuition does not include books, parking, meal plans or housing.
How do students enroll?
